So I don’t forget

Sophie is drinking from a cup and has developed her own style of “crawling.” She’s not even 7 months old yet! She holds her torso up with her elbows and uses one leg to propel her flat body forward. I know it’s technically not crawling, but I can only assume this will slowly develop into traditional crawling, so I’m calling it now. It started this past weekend. We noticed it Sunday while we were having an indoor breakfast picnic; Sophie went straight for everyone’s food. I know you’re thinking that’s a sign that she’s ready for table food, but if her baby food food is too lumpy, she gags. For those of you keeping score, it took us until Jack was almost 9 months before we found a cup he could use (Gerber Nuk), and he started crawling at 9 1/2 months toward a remote! We knew then he was tech crazy like his dad. He has mastered unlocking, searching, and using apps on the iTouch, iPad, and my Droid phone. He’s scary good. He’s so accustomed to a touch screen that he tried to scroll Mother’s laptop screen. To his dismay, it did not respond to his touch. He’s also become quite the sponge of vocabulary, even to the point of repeating ugly words (thanks, Nana; Daddy was quite proud that he wasn’t the one to teach Jack his first bad word, unless “fail” counts, seeing as how that’s replaced all of Kevin’s ugly words, and Jack does say that).

Maybe I’ll think of some more later…

Oh, to have this life…

Quick Update…

Well…how about quick, cute stories I don’t want to forget?

* I left a jar of baby food on the table and left the room to fix Sophie a bottle. When I came to find Jack feeding Sophie green beans, both of them highly amused, and green beans EVERYWHERE.

* Jack came to Sophie’s bedroom door and said, “No, no, no, Mommy. Stop. No change Sophie diaper. Mere, make breakfast.”

* Sophie can get up on her hands and knees, but doesn’t seem to know where to go from there, but if it means getting closer to her brother, she’s going to figure out a way.

* Since returning from vacation, our nightly prayers go like this: (me) “Dear God, thank you for…” (Jack) “Nik and Jamin and Baby Ronan and Mommy and Daddy and Sophie and Nik…” You probably get the idea.

* Me: “Who’s the boss?” Jack: “Mommy.” Me: “And?” Jack: “And Daddy.”

* One that drives me nuts now, but I know I will miss it terribly one day. When someone goes to do something for him, “No, no, Mommy do it.” (It’s already getting less and less.)

* We are working on tooth number 3; Jack that is, Sophie still has none.

* Sophie started using a sippy cup this past weekend. She’s not a pro at it, but she got the concept pretty quickly. I guess pretty soon we’ll start some finger foods.

Like I said, this is more for me than anyone else, but maybe you got a kick out of one of them.

Lovin’ some Jack toys

I wonder how long it’ll take…

Definitely not stationary anymore
